A creative community exploring faith and spirituality through the art of musical improv.
We are makers, and we use our creativity to glorify our Divine Maker. Through imagination and improvisation, we express our authentic selves as we share and create stories.
We are believers and doubters on a spiritual journey. We believe in each other, ourselves, and in the Holy and Undivided Trinity–one God and Mother of us all.
We are together. We share our lives with one another as an accepting, inclusive community of care.
Ludamus (‘let’s play’ in Latin) meets weekly at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. We aim to embody the art of loving through the improv principles of play, attentiveness, acceptance, self-giving, and trust. We make believe together because we know that to live in a better world, it must first be imagined. By creating a microcosm of the world we want to see, we hope we will open hearts for the Holy Spirit to spark transformation in ourselves and the world around us. While the group reflects on Christian themes and uses prayers in the Episcopal tradition, participating does not require adherence to any faith, and no prior music or improv experience is needed. Reach out if you would like to check it out!
