Gifts of Securities
Appreciated stock, bonds, or mutual funds that have been held for more than one year can be an ideal and tax-efficient way to support St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. For transfer instructions, please contact Kim Thoss at kim.thoss@stmarks-houston.org.

Qualified Charitable Distributions
Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from an individual retirement account (IRA) are a special way for those 70½ years old and older to give to charity. You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $111,000 per person in 2026, adjusted annually for inflation) from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as St. Mark's Episcopal Church without paying income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions. Beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
To initiate a QCD to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, contact your financial institution. (Note: To ensure the distribution is tax-free, the funds must move directly from your IRA to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.)
