The Diocese of Texas has a formal companion relationship with the Diocese of Costa Rica in the Anglican Church of Central America and St. Mark’s Youth Ministry has been traveling to Costa Rica to serve there since the summer of 2014. La Iglesia Episcopal Costarricense of the Anglican Church of Central America is home to 17 congregations scattered mainly in the central valley and Caribbean coast. The Diocese is planting churches, opening whole-child learning and wellness centers in impoverished communities, expanding an HIV/AIDS women’s co-op, partnering with coffee producers, and much more. The Diocese of Costa Rica understands itself to be a missionary church and grabs onto big ideas and expects the Spirit to lead in miraculous ways.
The Sr. High Youth Group will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica July 2-8, 2017 to join in the good work that the Diocese of Costa Rica already has underway. Students currently in the 8th through 12th grade are welcome to apply for this opportunity. We encourage students to have the willingness to serve others and to seek God in all that they do. Spanish-speakers always welcome! There are limited spots available, so please register using the form below as soon as possible. Other paperwork will be required as well.
If you are interested in making a donation toward the cost of a student’s trip or have questions of any kind, contact Alex Hillis, Trip Leader and Youth Minister at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
