The Women of St. Mark’s is a dynamic group focused on fellowship and community. With many opportunities to volunteer, we strive to better our community while having fun. Through our varied events, investments, and fundraising activities we are blessed to provide monetary contributions to various organizations. There are no dues or financial obligation required – only a willingness to meet people and participate!
The Women of St. Mark’s group was established in the 1940’s to unite the women of the parish in a program of worship, study, service and fellowship. For nearly thirty years beginning in the late 1950’s, the Women of St. Mark’s operated the Bargain Counter as an ongoing fundraiser. It is this successful endeavor that allows our organization to continue to support various worthy causes even today.
The Women of St. Mark’s supports several local organizations such as Hospitality Apartments, Christian Community Service Center and the Houston Area Heart Gallery with yearly outreach grants. Applicants should complete the 2017 Grant Request Form and submit it to the church offices by Friday, November 18, 2016. We have also assisted organizations such as Nets for Life, Dress a Girl Around the World, Camp Victory for Girls and Bel Inizio through our fundraising efforts.
Fellowship opportunities for the women include general membership meetings, fun and educational gatherings, monthly “uncovered dish” suppers at local restaurants and retreats at Camp Allen.
The Women of St. Mark’s also offer meals for those in need at St. Mark’s. If you are in need of assistance with meals due to a new baby, illness, injury or other need, please contact MJ Berryman.
Join us on October 17, 2015 at 3 p.m. for our annual Kids’ Fashion Show. This fundraising event will benefit Kids’ Meals, a local nonprofit organization that delivers free, healthy meals, every weekday to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest children five years old and younger.
If you want to learn more about the group, be a part of our activities or receive emails about upcoming events, please contact Lisa Burgess.
