St. Mark’s Episcopal Church sponsors the following organizations:
Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Office Parlor. AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees. The primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Meetings at St. Mark’s are closed.
Boys Scouts of America provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. St. Mark’s is a sponsoring parish for Pack 34 (contact Camora Kuo) and Troop 211 (contact Matt Kuryla). Cub Scouts, ages 7-10 meet one Thursday a month in the Gym/Cafeteria. Boy Scouts, ages 11-17 meet Mondays in the Gym/Cafeteria.
UCAL St. Mark’s participates in United Church Athletic League (UCAL) soccer and basketball. Separate boys’ and girls’ teams are formed for first through fourth grades and are coached by parent volunteers. Soccer season is from August 29 through October. Basketball begins in November and ends mid-February. There is one weekday game and one Saturday practice per week. Each sport has a $150 fee per player that includes UCAL fee, uniforms, pictures, medals, and referee costs. Contact Dina Colucci for more information.
