Children and Family Formation at St. Mark’s aims to assist families in introducing their kids to Jesus Christ, empower parents with the tools to talk to their kids about faith, plant the seed of God’s Word into their hearts, to model the love of Jesus through a team of caring volunteers, and to nurture and shepherd them into a lasting relationship with God.
Parish Weekend at Camp Allen Parishioners and their friends are invited to Camp Allen for a weekend offellowship and fun January 5-7, 2018! Many group activities are included, however some have an additional cost. Friday will begin with check in at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and game night. Saturday will include separate activities for children and adults followed by an afternoon of horseback riding, skeet shooting, the Giant Swing, and more. In the evening we will enjoy a campfire and s’mores. A worship service will conclude our time together on Sunday morning. All rooms have two double beds and a private bath. “Kid Min” This new take on traditional Sunday School will resume January 14, 2018. Children age four through grade five will meet in the gym/flex space at 10:10 a.m. for music, lessons taught with interactive media, skits, activities and games. Students in grades 6-7 are invited to assist with Kid Min. Contact Lynette Huron to volunteer or for information. Please drop off your child(ren) immediately following the 9 a.m. service and pick them up from the same place at 10:50 a.m.
Family Fellowship Events Family Fellowship Events is a ministry of Children’s Formation, and scheduled once a month. Each Family Fellowship Event is open to anyone who is part of the St. Mark’s ‘family’, whether you have children or not, as well as anyone they would like to invite. Past events have included a Bowling Party, Dynamo and Astros games, Game Night, Parent’s Day Out, Ice Cream Socials, movies and more! Click here for more information.
Children’s Chapel During the 9 a.m. service each Sunday (and during the 10 a.m. service in the summer), children and youth of any age are invited to participate in the Children’s Sermon and Children’s Chapel. One of our clergy will invite the children to come forward following the Gospel for a special message. They will then be escorted to the foyer of Hauser Hall where Ms. Julia Hall will lead them in a fun lesson. Children return during the passing of the peace.
Choristers Choristers is made up of children in first to seventh grade and is led by Ms. Julia Hall. It exists to provide children the opportunity to experience the challenge, joy, and reward of choral singing to the Glory of God. It also provides a means of fostering leadership and a place where our children may grow together stronger spiritually. On scheduled Sundays, Choristers vest at 8:30 a.m. and sing in the 9 a.m. service. They rehearse from 11 a.m. to noon in the Youth Room each Sunday that Sunday School is held.
Vacation Bible School During the first week of August, St. Mark’s will hold VBS for children ages PreK through 5th grade. Participants will learn to overcome obstacles with God’s awesome power and will anchor them in rock-solid Bible truths that will guide them through life’s challenges. From 9 a.m. to noon each day, we will play games, create colorful crafts, sing, and enjoy snacks beginning and ending in Hauser Hall. Click here to learn more!
