Mary Ann came to St. Mark’s from Austin where she worked as hospital chaplain and was involved in the ministry life at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She also worked as an interim coordinator of Adult Christian Formation for Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin. She served as the Curate here for two years before becoming the Associate Rector.
Her primary focus at St. Mark’s is Welcome and Worship. She oversees welcome events and works with the Welcome Committee to develop an overall strategy of welcome, inclusion and involvement in St. Mark’s. If you are new, chances are good that you will be in contact with Mary Ann. She teaches the Newcomer Class twice a year, and leads other Adult Formation classes and small groups periodically.
Liturgically, Mary Ann oversees Sunday worship services, shares in preaching and celebrating with the other St. Mark’s clergy, as well as officiating at baptisms, weddings and funerals. She enjoys working on special worship services such as The Longest Night in December, the Good Friday Women at the Tomb service, lining up special musicians for our summer services, and helping coordinate the Lenten Singer/Songwriter series. In addition, Mary Ann helps train Acolytes, Lectors and Lay Eucharistic Ministers.
She serves on the new Regional Discernment Committee for the Diocese of Texas, and is a member of the Alumni Steering Committee for the Seminary of the Southwest.
People ask her about: How to become part of the St. Mark’s community.
